With smart phones being the new ‘big touch’ in today’s market, two main rivals are trying to outsell and outperform each other’s product. But how do you know which one is the ‘smart’ buy? Apple, the market leader is toe to toe against the up and coming Samsung.
Apple is an American multinational corporation founded by the late Steve Jobs. Apple produces digital technology such as: Computers (Macs), Laptops and mobile phones. The new product catching everyone’s eye is the iPhone6 and 6+, with multiple new features added such as a light sensor, proximity sensor, scratch-resistant glass and now an oloephobic coating which is bound to break sales records. Since its previous model (iPhone5s) the frame rate on the camcorder has doubled to 240Fps, this will produce a much more smooth and life like image to the viewer. Another huge benefit for the purchaser would be the huge increase in storage; it is now at 128GB which will allow more space for games, music and pictures.
Samsung Galaxy S5 is the leading competitor for Apple in the current market. Samsung are known mainly for their television, mobile phones and tablets. Having compared the new S5 to the new iPhone6 we can say that Apple have an issue on their hands. The new S5 is considerably better than the iPhone6 in many aspects, such as a higher native resolution, a camera with double the megapixels and a camcorder in 4K resolution which is considerably smoother than the rival iPhone6. However compared to the Samsung S4 it’s not much of a technological upgrade, but the new smooth styled design of the phone is very appealing.
Apple have had a shipment of 41,650,000 iPhone6’s since sales began, this is astronomically larger than the iPhone5 shipment order at 15,103,000. “Leading the charge is iPhone 6, predicted to account for just shy of 60 percent of all sales for the quarter, or 41.65 million units. Coming in a distant second is the iPhone 6 plus, which has been the more talked about next-generation variation due in large part to its scarcity at retail outlets.” - KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo
Samsung’s profits fall 20 percent as Galaxy S5 sales disappoint, Giving our research into the technical specifications of both smart phones we can conclude that even though the Samsung S5 has better features this does not affect the opinion people have on Samsung. Apple’s market foundation has enabled their customers to assume the Apple product is of higher quality. We have seen from research that Samsung’s profits have fallen, however Apple’s have risen despite their new feature, “bending without command”.
After all the research we have made our decisions, Myself (Sam) am loyal to Apple and prefer the iphone6 to the Samsung due to the look of the phone and the Software, although I think the S5 is a top quality product and do recommend it. I myself(Tom) think that all Apple products are all overpriced and Samsung has a higher quality to price ratio, I would personally purchase an S5 over the iPhone6 due to this price to quality ratio.
