The latest article to appear on the blog: Something from Nothing... a young entrepreneur's story was written by ex STP pupil, deputy head boy and business studies student Aled Nelmes. Aled completed his A levels in 2014 and is now pursuing his business ventre (as outlined in his blog) before he goes off to university to study business next year. A big thank you to Aled for getting involved in the blog. If there are any other ex students running their own business and would like to write a blog post, get in touch!
Guest Speakers (27/11/2014)
We would like to thank Fran Smith, GM Commercial Manager at Marks and Spencer, Haverfordwest and Simon Brick, Manager at The Huntsman, Rosemarket for giving up some of their time to talk to our Year 11 students this week about Recruitment and Training. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn about different recruitment and training methods in two different businesses as part of their GCSE controlled assessment work.
Revision Podcasts
Year 12 and 13 are currently in the process of developing revision podcasts, aimed at year 11 students, for them to download onto their phones/tablets/laptops to help them with revision. The podcasts will each be about 20 minutes in length and will cover different parts of the GCSE specification. Used alongside more traditional revision materials such as revision guides and past exam papers, the pod casts offer an additional method of revision for students. Groups of year 12 and 13 students are being creative - writing scipts for role plays, interviews and radio shows to make the podcasts interesting for students.
Watch this space for the first podcasts in the next few weeks!
Christmas Blogging
We have just launched our blogging competition for years 10-13. We have asked all pupils to submit a blog post before the end of the Christmas term and there will a prize for the best blog in each year group. Students in all year groups have come up with some really interesting themes for blog articles, ranging from how technology is taking over business to why Christmas TV adverts are such big business. The blog gives students in all year groups an opportunity to research business outside the classroom and helps develop literacy and independent learning skills.
