Welcome to the Sir Thomas Picton School
Business Studies department.
The department is made up of four teachers: Miss K Hudson (Head of Business Studies); Mrs T Edwards (Deputy Head, Teacher of Business Studies); Mrs V Price (Head of ICT, Teacher of Business Studies) and Mr M Davies (Teacher of Technology and Teacher of Business Studies).
Students can opt to study Business Studies at Key Stage 4 (year 10) and at this level we offer the following courses:
At Key Stage 5 (A Level) we currently teach AQA AS ans A Level Business Studies however from September 2015 will be teaching WJEC AS and A Level Business Studies.
There are a number of extra-curricular opportunities available to students within the department, including educational trips and visits to local, national and international businesses; the chance to start a business with Young Enterprise; an opportunity to work with Coca Cola in the Real Business Challenge; experience of trading on the stock exchange in the Student Investor Challenge and an opportunity to run your own business from our enterprise sheds.
We have links with a number of local businesses and work with our business partners in the community as often as we can - we believe that experiencing business in a real situation compliments the theory learnt in the classroom.
